Five years ago, I stood at a crossroads.
I was a salesperson with limited savings, yet I made a bold decision: I resigned from a stable job to pursue a new sales opportunity.
There was just one problem.
It was during the COVID-19 lockdown, when businesses were struggling, the economy was uncertain, and jobs were far from secure. The stakes couldn’t have been higher. If I failed to pass my probation, I would be jobless—and with limited savings, I might have had to rely on others just to get by.
I was anxious. I had questions. I didn’t know what the future would look like.
So, I opened my Bible.
When You Don’t Know What the Future Holds
As I searched for an answer, Isaiah 60 caught my attention—especially verses 1 and 19:
“Arise, shine, for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.”
And:
“The sun shall no longer be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; but the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory.”
Those words hit me like a wave of peace.
I was reminded that even in the middle of a famine, economic crisis, uncertainty, or personal struggle, God remains God.
I didn’t have to know exactly how everything would work out.
I simply needed to trust Him.
Be still, and know that I am God.
God would be my source of strength. He would be my provider. And ultimately, my success would not depend entirely on what I could control, but on the God I chose to trust.
Five Years of Seeing God Provide
Over the next five years, He did exactly that.
God blessed me beyond what I could have asked or imagined—not only in my career and finances, but also in my relationships, marriage, and many other areas of life.
Looking back, I can see that the decision I was so afraid to make became part of a much bigger story.
What felt like uncertainty at the time became an opportunity to experience God's faithfulness.
What felt like risk became a reminder that I was never truly alone.
And what felt like a lack of resources became an opportunity to see God provide.
And Now, I’m Standing at Another Crossroads
Now, here we are in 2026.
Many people are concerned about what the coming years may bring. Economic uncertainty, rising costs, changing industries, AI disruption, and an unpredictable job market have made the future feel less certain for many of us.
And here’s the interesting part.
I’ve just resigned again.
This time, I’m not leaving one job for another.
I’m stepping out to start my own business.
And honestly?
My savings are limited compared with the expenses and responsibilities ahead.
On paper, it may not look like the safest decision.
But I’m not panicking.
Why Am I Not Afraid?
Because God is reminding me of the same promise He gave me five years ago:
Isaiah 60:1 & 19.
“Arise, shine, for your light has come.”
“The Lord will be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory.”
The circumstances may have changed.
The challenges may look different.
But the God I trust has not changed.
Five years ago, I was afraid of failing probation.
Today, I’m facing the uncertainty of building something of my own.
Five years ago, I wondered whether I would have enough.
Today, I’m asking the same question in a different season.
And once again, I’m choosing to remember:
God is my source—not my salary, my savings, my business, or my circumstances.
What If You’re Facing Uncertainty Too?
Perhaps you’re standing at your own crossroads right now.
Maybe you’re worried about your career.
Maybe your finances are stretched.
Maybe you’re considering starting a business.
Maybe you’re uncertain about your future.
Or perhaps you simply don’t know what your next step should be.
If that’s you, I want to encourage you with what God reminded me:
You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can know who holds tomorrow.
Your circumstances may change.
Your income may change.
The economy may change.
Your plans may change.
But God remains faithful.
The same God who carried me through one uncertain season is the God I’m trusting to carry me through this one.
And if He could be my everlasting light five years ago, He can still be my light today.
Arise. Shine. Your Light Has Come.
I don’t know exactly what the next five years will look like.
But I know who I trust.
And I know that whatever lies ahead, God is more than enough.
So, if you’re standing at a crossroads today, take heart.
You don’t need to have every answer before you take the next step.
You don’t need to see the entire road before you trust the One leading you.
Sometimes faith simply means taking the next step while believing that God will provide the light.
Arise. Shine. Your light has come.
And may the Lord be your everlasting light, your strength, your provider, and your glory—whatever season you are walking through.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
